Fairly clean hotel, comfy beds, savoury breakfasts and pleasant staff. Peaceful location of the venue opposite a brilliant Indian restaurant. And close to the centre of town, the pub and a constant stream of lorries up-and-down the road.

The location is fantastic, right next to the bus stops and other parts of Long Melford. It's only a 5-minute walk from the Imagine Gallery. the staff is efficient and friendly, both at reception and throughout the hotel. They serve breakfast with hot toast which was a nice touch.

The staff was excellent, attentive, and responded promptly to requests. I had fab food for breakfast - simple poached egg on toast with beans. - the hotel was in an excellent location. - Nothing to complain about, the venue met requirements, recommend it.

Good food, good atmosphere, good location. Heating and hot water very good including shower. Very reasonable tariff, the price quoted was more than we paid.
Room 7 was disappointing. It (& room 8) are terraced cottages to the side of the hotel entered off the street. Creature comforts are sparse for two people. No easy chairs, only one bedside cabinet & light. Iron frame bed uncomfortable to rest against to watch tv. (No itv1 or ch4) No mirror for hair-dryer. Large bathroom but no bath, no shelf or table for toiletries not even a hook to hang bathrobe. With a little expenditure all this could be dealt with. We would not stay in these rooms again but those in the main hotel may be better.

The cleanliness of the bathroom and bedroom
My particular breakfast was very disappointing. I chose poached egg on toast and got the smallest egg in the world (just one) and the toast (2 slices of mother's pride) was so burnt and cold that it just slid about on the plate. I did send the toast back and it was replaced with an apology. I also mentioned the size of the egg etc when paying - the girl said that she couldn't help the size of the eggs she served, I should have asked for two eggs when I ordered breakfast and should have complained at the time - but I didn't want to do this because we were with friends and I didn't want to hold them up. The full English looked much better quality and value.

Evening food and breakfast very good - value for money. Room ensuite facility good. general room decoration fair. Good bar atmosphere Thursday and Friday evening.
Room cleaning was poor with bed not made up on Thursday and ensuite floor not washed daily with dirt left on floor. Sash cords on windows hung down where weights had come off, which made room look neglected. Mark on wall behind TV which may be damp coming in. Carpet in poor condition and not fitted professionally. Spoilt the look of the room.
